Head of Developer Marketing - Open Source MLOps
Overview: Define the Voice of Production AI
We're looking for a technical storyteller and strategic marketer to own the narrative of our growing MLOps framework. ZenML is transforming how AI engineers build production-ready pipelines, and we need someone who can translate complex technical capabilities into compelling stories that drive adoption.
This isn't a traditional B2B marketing role. You won't be chasing MQLs or writing fluff pieces. You will be acting as a translator between our engineering core and the wider data science world—architecting the content, landing pages, and educational resources that convince developers to trust us with their ML infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Technical Content Engine: You will drive the editorial calendar, writing high-impact "Why MLOps" pieces and editing technical tutorials from our engineers to ensure they are readable, accurate, and engaging.
- Product Marketing & Positioning: Translate features into benefits. You will build and optimize landing pages that clearly answer "Why ZenML?" vs. other tools (Airflow, Kubeflow, etc.) and manage product launches.
- Growth & Distribution: It’s not enough to write; you must distribute. You will own the strategy for getting our content in front of developers via SEO, newsletters, Hacker News, Reddit, and social channels.
- Educational Leadership: Organize and host webinars/workshops that aren't sales pitches, but genuine "How-to" sessions that solve problems for engineers.
- Developer Experience (Docs): View documentation as a marketing asset. Work with the team to ensure the "Getting Started" experience is frictionless.
Tools & Tech You'll Work With
- The Product: Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and the MLOps ecosystem. (You don't need to build the tool, but you need to be able to run the quickstart).
- The Marketing Stack: Next.js/Webflow (for landing pages), PostHog/Google Analytics (for data), GitHub (for collaboration).
- The Content Stack: Markdown, Video recording tools, Social platforms.
What We're Looking For
- The "Hybrid" Profile: You have a technical background (CS degree or engineering experience) but fell in love with communication, OR you are a seasoned marketer who has spent years marketing exclusively to developers.
- A Portfolio of Writing: You have a blog, a Substack, or a history of technical tutorials that people actually enjoy reading. You treat writing as a product.
- BS-Detector: You hate "marketing fluff." You know that developers trust code and clarity, not buzzwords.
- Execution First: You are willing to write the copy, build the landing page, and set up the tracking yourself. We are a startup; strategy includes execution.
- Open Source Mindset: Enthusiasm about building in public and engaging with community contributors.
